First ride impressions-RR585 with Ultegra Hubs, April 24, 2011 By This review is from: DT Swiss RR585 Rim - 32h, 700c, Black (Misc.) I'm what is called a Super Clydesdale rider. At just a bit under 250 pounds, I'm pretty rough on my road bike components. I'm not abusive in anyway and I ride typical roads around the Bay Area. I put on an average of 100-150 miles per week during the riding season and ride many charity events. Usually 100KM or more. This year Im going for 100 milers at all events that have one. I've been averaging over 4,000 miles per year the past two years and will probably exceed that this year.
I have a 2004 Specialized Roubaix Comp with the 2010 SL-2 frame (warranty replacement) and full Ultegra Kit, Brooks B-17 saddle. The bike came with Mavic Equippe wheels which are pretty crappy. I was constantly truing them since they only have 24 spokes on the rear.
This week my new DT Swiss RR 585 wheels came in to my LBS. (These used to be called the RR 1.2) I've been able to ride the new wheels twice now. A casual 22 miler on rolling hills one day and an hour of hard... Read more
