Most of the time you see the correct weight of the stem, around 125gm,
advertised in bicycle catalogs. However, the weight of all bicycle parts are very often wrong on a fair number of parts websites. I have never
seen the weight of an OS-99 misquoted on the manufacturer's website.
It's always a good idea check around before you buy. Most parts that
have very low weights have rider weight restrictions that websites won't
tell you about.
THIS is a GREAT STEM and at the price listed here a very good deal.
I am 220 lbs, have Tour de France winning bicycle models, and have
never had problem with weight or quality of an OS-99. I have one
bicycle with an OS-99 on it that is so light it is illegal in the
Tour de France.

I respect companies that provide honest, realistic data. Often this data that is given on manufacture's websites makes a difference in the purchase of a product. This information could help to assist one in making a buying decision if the technical data from another competitor is appealing. That is the case with the OS-99 FSA stem.
I have recently purchased an FSA OS-99 stem. This unit is rated at 98 grams. Based on this information, it is one of the lightest stems on the market. Once I placed this unit on a high-quality digital scale ... well, I cannot verbalize my disgust here. (I will withhold those creative words that come to mind.) The unit weighed in at a hefty 126 grams ... a full ounce (another 28 grams)! If this weight was disclosed by FSA, I would have chosen another stem.
For those who count every gram, those who are considered by the bicycling industry as 'weight-weenies', it is time to get outraged. False advertising claims does not set well when it... Read more
